Episode Introduction: Hello, everyone! Today, I am so happy to welcome our guest: Ece Erder. Today’s episode is a special one because Ece Erder is also the host for the second season of Global Citizen Diaries. Ece is a 2nd year Master of Science student in the Comparative Medicine and Integrative Biology Program from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University. She moved to Michigan in 2016 for college from Istanbul Turkey, and received her Bachelors of Science in Cellular and Developmental Neuroscience, post-baccalaureate Certification in Medical Neuroscience, and is finishing her thesis now for her Masters in Science. Episode Introduction: We’re thrilled to welcome Rebekah Gordon to the Global Citizen Diaries on today’s episode! She identifies as a motherscholar and is broadly interested in language teaching, educational exchange programs, transnationalism, teacher identity, mother studies, feminist episteomologies, creative non-fiction and other arts-based research methods. Before coming to MSU, Rebekah taught English language courses in Ethiopia and China. She earned her bachelor’s degree in special education and her master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). In this episode, Selin discusses her current projects in science education, her understanding of freedom of speech, some of her strategies for overcoming the challenges of the pandemic and some artists she has been enjoying. Episode Introduction: In this episode, we are so happy to welcome our guest: Lindsay McHolme. Lindsay is a doctoral student in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher education (CITE) program at MSU. Her research interests are focused on linguistic identities. Aside from her studies at MSU, she works part-time as an adult ESL teacher at Lansing School District. In this episode, we cover linguistic identity, equity on campus, and inclusion in teacher education. Lindsay also shares two books she has been enjoying recently: ELIXIR by Janine Certo and In the Corner of the Living by Miguel La Serna. She spent 15 years teaching and living in South Korea before coming to MSU. Her research interests revolve around how bi/multilingual families can keep a family language intergenerationally. In this episode, Heather covers academic topics and advice about graduate school while also describing her lifestyle with us. Peijin Shen is a 3rd year undergraduate student in the Michigan State University College of Education with a major in elementary language arts and a minor in TESOL. She comes from China, having lived there for 18 years.Due to the Covid-19, currently, she is in China, so she is completing all her 3rd year coursework with remote online learning approach in China.
